Artist book
our first weekly program for children from the Tegel refugee accomodation center

context
the program supported communication, imagination, and emotional support in a Willkommensschule TXL — a temporary school designed for newly arrived refugee children — a space shaped by high turnover, multiple languages, and diverse personal histories
what we did
- over the course of 8 weeks, we worked with a mixed-age group of children from different backgrounds, speaking Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, German, and English
- through games, drawing, storytelling, and object-making, we explored what a “book” can be — and how it can hold both memory and invention
financial support
Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion
framework
a dual-track structure combining artistic practice with communication-based group work, rooted in multilingual and trauma-informed methods
process
each day included two sessions: one focused on communication and trust-building through games, the other on artistic work — from creating characters and imagined homes to drawing self-portraits and assembling visual pages
outcomes
the program culminated in a small in-school festival and exhibition. Friends and families were invited to take part in workshops, explore the children's creations, and follow an interactive exhibition-quest through the space
